Native Plant Design and Installation

At BNL we utilize plants that are natural to our area. Native plants are adapted to the region, requiring less water, pesticide use, and overall maintenance. These plants reduce runoff, filter rainwater and also provide essential ecosystem services for local wildlife and pollinators. 

 

When we use native plants we retain a sense of place. Long island's unique natural environment should be cherished not destroyed. Why plant exotic shrubs from across the world when there are countless beautiful shrubs native to the area we live in. When we use native shrubs, trees, and grasses we bring the beauty of Long Island to our homes instead of creating distinct borders.
